The Role
The internship was a fantastic experience. I was able to learn so much from amazing people across the business and have gained more skills that will help me in my future career. Especially the focus on your strengths is something that sets Accenture apart. This allowed me not only to learn more about myself but use my strengths to make a positive impact in the company. Truly recommend this company and only have good things to say.
Despite only being an intern, I feel like my opinions were valued and the work I did had an impact on my division and the entire business. My colleagues asked me to contribute with my own insight and I was able to implement my own creativity to come up with new solutions. Everyone at Accenture truly embodies its values and was a pleasure to work with. The people at Accenture are what make it such a great place to work!
Continuous feedback is highly valued at Accenture. I had regular meetings with my supervisor to discuss my progress, my development, and my strengths. The feedback was highly informative and allowed me to further develop my skills during the internship and in the future. If I had a question, I felt like I could reach out to one of my colleagues when they were free. Despite the remote nature of the internship I never felt disconnected.
I had several meetings on a daily basis which allowed me to gain insight into various roles and business practices. The rest of the day I spent working on my project. I think this was a great balance between working on my own and being part of a team. It was quite manageable and a work-life balance was encouraged. Some days could be more stressful than others but it never felt too overwhelming and I had time to get everything done.
I was able to take responsibility for my own project and come up with my own solution of how to approach it and make a positive impact. I did receive support my others on my team but overall I was able to bring in my own insight and take responsibility. If you enjoy taking on a challenge, then you will definitely enjoy this way of working. I felt like I was challenged but also supported when I did need help.
Accenture's focus on developing your strengths has made me more self-aware of my skills and has allowed me to implement these throughout my degree and beyond. Additionally, the wide variety of training opportunities that you can complete are excellent. The internship also further developed my communication and team working skills, which I will apply throughout my degree and beyond. Accenture values lifelong learning which will assist me throughout my degree and career. These are definitely skills for life.
The Company
Since my internship was held remotely I cannot say too much about the office atmosphere. However, despite the online nature of the internship, I never felt disconnected or isolated from my colleagues or supervisors. This really speaks to Accenture's people. Especially the events held by Accenture's Accent On Networks were not only insightful but also allowed me to meet other individuals across the business. Everyone was open to questions and speaking about what they do.
The structure and organisation of the internship was excellent. There was a clear timetable of when we would receive feedback and the first week was structured so that we could get a good insight into Accenture and the ways of working. Additionally, throughout the internship, we had the opportunity to meet with several leaders for coffee chats which was a great experience. Social events after work were also planned. Everything worked seamlessly and the organisation was perfect.
I truly felt I could further develop my strengths through regular feedback discussions. Additionally, I had the opportunity to take part in training and development programmes from a wide variety of options. Even though the internship was around 1 month, I did not feel like Accenture did not invest in my training and development. Overall, I had the opportunity to speak with leaders across the business, take on my own initiative, and gain new skills.
