The Role
During the COVID-19 pandemic I was given the opportunity to work remotely working at Buro Happold. This was something that made my days interesting and much more enjoyable and also gave me the ability to (virtually) socialise with people with experience on my degree which were able to further guide me. I had the freedom to choose to some degree how I would approach the project I was working on and that definitely added to the whole experience .
Having an internship remotely was a first both for the team I was working with and fir myself. However, they managed to balance it perfectly. Every morning there were calls with the whole team discussing what each one will do on that day. On top of that I was able to call my supervisor whenever I needed extra help and he was also calling to check on me at least ones a day, which was something that I found extremely helpful
I had a project that I was mainly working on for the duration of my one month internship. Towards the end of it my project was almost finished and I had less work to do with that so I could help with other smaller tasks. Overall, I would say that I was given enough responsibilities. However, I was feeling like I would be able to handle even more responsibilities than that if that was needed from me.
The Company
I was working remotely but still managed to feel welcome and have a lot of fun
It was the first time that they had remote internship and that caused some IT problems
I was given time and resources to familiarise myself with different software
I would love to work again in Buro Happold in the future
The Culture
I was working from home so nothing changed for me
