About You
I found the Insight Day both helpful and engaging. All of the hosts were eager to answer any questions I had, and they also ensured that the event was very interactive - rather than just them speaking for a length of time. It helped me to understand more about Santander as a company and therefore the experience was a thoroughly enjoyable one. As there were time restrictions I understand that it was difficult to do a lot during the time, but I would have liked to get a deeper understanding of all the sectors at the company.
As mentioned above, everyone was very helpful and happy to help with any issues I had. I felt very valued during the time as both the hosts took the time to ask about us and why we attended the event, etc. This really meant a lot to me especially as I immediately knew that the company clearly value their employees generally and the environment at the firm must be a very engaging and interesting one.
I received a lot of guidance and support during the Insight Day. The hosts went into a sufficient amount of detail regarding the company. As the event was virtual there was only so much that could be gone through and so that was the only drawback of the experience. However - on the whole - everyone was very welcoming and seemed to know exactly what we would want to know and so were able to tailor the session around that.
As this was just a virtual experience day, we did not really develop any skills and so it is difficult to answer the question appropriately. It is more the knowledge that I gained during my time with the company that will be useful for me in my later life - as I begin to look at possible careers and career paths that I might be interest in pursuing after a degree level. However it was still a helpful session.
The Company
The stricture was very good as there was an introductory stage wherein the hosts got to know us a bit more. This also helped all of us to get to know some of each other. The main part of the session consisted of a very interactive PowerPoint presentation. This meant that the whole day was very interactive and well-structured for us as young people who are beginning to look at different firms and paths we may want to follow.
The atmosphere was very welcoming and engaging at all times. This was personified by the hosts themselves as they were both very nice and helpful. There were also able to make sure the event was fun, which was made even harder as the event was virtual. I would definitely consider attending another event run by the company, as it seems as though most of the employees there are very helpful and engaging people for others.
I believe that the firm invested in me, as the hosts seemed to really want to answer any questions we had - and consequently we were able to get the most out of the session. I believe that the knowledge we gained ensured that we are now able to hone our skills if we want to be successful in gaining a job or career in this specific company (or any other firm in this sector).
The hosts explained the kind of work - life balance that is omnipresent at the firm. As a result of this, I was able to understand more about the company as a whole and why it is such a good and exciting plane to potentially watch my career flourish at. The day was very informative and so - as a whole - I could now confidently say the firm must have a a very welcoming culture for all employees.
The culture was explored a lot throughout the Insight Day, and so there was a lot of information given about it. There is clearly a very open culture present at the specific firm, and this was demonstrated by the hosts, who were very helpful and welcoming to all the people who attended the event. I know understand the culture at Santander and it is nice to know that this culture is present for all employees there.
It was not really that useful because it was quite a short event and it was difficult to say that now I am confident on the exact career path I want to follow. For me to be able to say that, the event would have to have been longer, and also not virtual as it is tricky for me to decide on something like this after a half - day, online event that only really gave me a snapshot into the company.
Everything Else
I was not paid.
There were not any opportunities to network with other employees in the company, as the event was virtual and the only employees form the firm that were present were the actual hosts. Therefore there were no real opportunities for networking or even meeting other employees at all. This was - understandably - difficult as the event was virtual and so you cannot really give other people's details away. However the day was still enjoyable and useful for me.
N/A
The hosts gave a lot of information about the social events that were available at the firm. They even explained that although were are in lockdown (at the time of writing) the employees still have social events virtually. This was really useful for me as I would like to work at a company that values all employees enough t ensure that they still get to meet up at all times. Therefore it was very useful all in all.
I would definitely recommend this to all of my friends.
