About You
It was a really useful scheme giving insider information as to the application process which other presentations don’t do.
There were only 30 attendees, they answered every question and were very considerate of questions asked, taking us seriously and making us feel as if no question was too stupid.
Especially after the negotiation exercises they gave us feedback straight after and told us what we did well and what we needed to improve.
Having never attempted a negotiation exercise before, I found the trainee was very informative as to what we should consider in our answers, how to structure the session and what we should be talking about during the practise. He didn’t give us any answers but guided us when necessary giving us the chance to explore ideas individually and actually develop skills ourselves.

Being only 4 hours long was perfect for a virtual insight event as any longer would have been difficult to keep concentration, and also means you can easily fit the session around your studies. It was super seamless, giving us adequate breaks and I didn’t find myself checking the clock thinking presentations were going on too long. Probably the best structured insight session I’ve been to so far!
I’m guessing this is only because the session was online, but there were obviously more quiet moments and the “fun” is quite hard to channel through zoom, but the sessions were very engaging even if it is more difficult to animate a crowd online!
They provided lots of general feedback during the negotiation exercise which was very useful especially as negotiation skills are imperative in future in law.
It was mainly a session indicating how to help with the application process and giving us an insight into the interview procedure and group exercise. It didn’t say much about being a lawyer at Dentons but we did get a talk from a partner and the opportunity to talk briefly with graduate recruitment.
Very insightful! Having a partner talk to us about the d & i initiatives is very telling about the firm culture and their values, especially hearing as partners themselves lead some of these networks. It would have been more beneficial to have associates and trainees give talks too or have them present during a networking session but then again this would have increased the amount of time spent in front of a screen, so I think they did fine.
For saying I already want to apply to the firm the presentations have really useful insights into the firm culture, specific buzz words and features of the firm which we should already know (I.e. Swiss verein structure etc)
Everything Else
(Did not need expenses paid)
There was no networking opportunities with anyone except graduate recruitment
Same as above ^^
Yes we heard all about the additional networks, social events and the social activities.
Yes definitely!! Compared to other insight days I prefer how the cohort was much smaller, it made the event seem much more intimate and made us feel more valued.
