Overview
On the first week/few lessons you take part in sector overviews and expert skills sessions delivered by the teams at leading consultancies. You'll also network with your cohort of members who are also completing the Consulting internship experience. Then you attend more seminars and listen and connect with them on linkedin. This was the on demand version so I could attend at any point and join and carry on as I wished to.
Skills
Taking part in the Consulting internship experience will help you get ahead in your career in a few key ways. This is your chance to get close to leaders in the industry, all from the comfort of your own home. You’ll find out how the sector works, the different types of consulting you could work in and ways to get into the industry after graduating. Discover the mindset of a good consultant and develop the core skills needed to succeed in the sector, including data analysis, leadership, presenting, communication, commercial awareness and entrepreneurship. Plus, you’ll receive a certificate on completion which you can add to your CV and LinkedIn.
Responsibilities
Begin your work project to simulate real-life tasks you’d be responsible for during an internship at a consulting firm. You'll be benefiting from live support on your project work delivered by our partner firms and from recent graduates working in the Consulting sector. After completing your project, there will be a final skills session and a closing celebration to mark the end of your internship experience. You will receive feedback on your work once you’ve completed the internship experience. We’ll be providing full details of the Consulting internship experience sessions soon and you can view the schedule and programme agenda for more details here. This is a free experience and can be completed fully virtually.
Support & Guidance
It was fun to do the work and after you do it, you get a cetificate which you can post on linkedin. But because they dont give feedback and it is not marked, it feels like the project is a waste as no one really says whether the work is good or not. However, the internship is more than just the project though so I would still do it despite this part. I was emailed by people too
Culture
This was online due to COVID so i didnt get to meet anyone or gain any insight on culture, However, they did talk about company culture in videos and talk about the culture of leading employers, including Accenture, PwC, Bain & Company, Elixirr and Alpha FMC to create an experience to support and widen your understanding of the world of Consulting. The atmosphere was good in that sence and online you could network with industry experts, as well as like-minded Bright Network members.
Your Impressions
I liked taking part. It was on demand so I did it as I wished and when i wanted to. Furthermore, it had lots of different employers and a variety of speakers so I felt like I got a really holistic understanding of what it is like. The talks were all in depth and the task was useful for applying all that knwoledge just piled onto us. The task was a way to put that knowledge somewhere useful.
Yes
I would make notes through all the guest soeakers for future cover letters and future applications. I would also add them on linked in as they were leading employers, including Accenture, PwC, Bain & Company, Elixirr and Alpha FMC all in the meetings and to add them and send a message or even have them on your references would be amazing and this would be a good way to start a converstaion online on Linked in.
