Overview
From around 9am to 3pm each day we had a series of guest speakers as well as our hosts join us to talk about their experiences and their job roles as well as how to begin a career in the field from a graduate or undergraduate level.
Skills
We worked in teams to create a concept for a community project to get the general public interested in local conservation issues which was new for me to plan something from concept, management, advertisement, funding and engagement.
Business Insight
There are a great deal more careers involved in conservation that I was not aware of, which has shown me that there are opportunities to create my own business, collaborate with educators, managers or work directly in hands on conservation.
Culture
Everyone was very friendly and well organised
Your Impressions
I found it very engaging, especially considering that the internship was forced to move online during Covid, I think the team did a fantastic job of delivering as much useful material as possible.
Yes
Definitely go for it, there are people from all kinds of backgrounds on the course so don't worry if you think you're not the right candidate, give it a go and you will be pleasantly surprised at the inclusivity.
