Skills
At Warner Media you have a plethora of opportunities to develop all your skills. Due to how hectic the games industry is, multi-tasking, organization and proactivity are vital skills which are needed on a day-to-day basis. During my placement I was encouraged to undergo different types of trainings to develop different aspects of my marketing skills. Communication is also a skill which I developed a lot, since working during the pandemic reinforces how important it is to be able to easily and effectively convey information.
Responsibilities
From day one of the placement I was given a lot of responsibility, I really felt like a valued member of the team who could contribute and have an impact on the business. As you could see from the tasks I had to do during my placement (which I mentioned earlier), you really feel like the work you do has an impact on the titles you are working on, and that you're not just bored always waiting for work.
Support & Guidance
Whilst working in part of such a small team, there are many points of contact who I can refer to in order to ask for advice or guidance. At no point during the year did I feel like I couldn't ask for help or guidance due to the inclusive atmosphere created by the team. I really appreciated the freedom I was given to make my own mistakes and to try my own methodology, however after being able to try this I always could ask for advice and help.
Culture
Excellent atmosphere! I was warmly welcomed when I first started my placement, and had many opportunities to get to know the team despite the pandemic. I felt included in the team during our weekly quizzes and felt like everyone did their best to get to know me. I frequently feel confident to message my team and ask them how their day went and chat just like we would within the office.
Your Impressions
I can confirm I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Warner Brothers. I got given many opportunities to see games before they were announced to the public. Get free copies of the game once it is released. Attend work lunches and dinner (when there is no pandemic). And the greatest thing is that you can also enjoy these things with other great likeminded individuals!
Yes
Make sure to be yourself! When I first walked into the office on my assessment day I felt very overwhelmed since there was many other excellent & talented applicants, however if you stay true to yourself and reveal your true colors (which should include a passion for gaming) then you will be fine!
