Overview
There's quite a lot of weekly tasks to this role, which mainly revolve around keeping our planning documents and product lists up to date. I work with lots of other interns to organise projects such as creating collections for the warnerbros website and looking from strategic opportunities. As my role continues I have more responsibility and have input in our social media plans and promotions ideas/management. As our team is pretty small we have meetings with other departments regularly
Skills
There's so many opportunities to learn at Warnermedia, we have access to speaker talks, company-wide meetings and other learner platforms eg. LinkedinLearning I have developed communication skills significantly, especially as my placement was virtual this year. Networking and presenting are two other skills that are invaluable. and the structure of the company makes it very easy to develop in these areas. Time management is also an area where all placement students will improve. My skills on Excel and my attention for detail have also improved as this role relies heavily on them.
Responsibilities
We are given a lot of responsibility, especially as my team is small, so our input really counts. As my placement has gone on I've been given more eg. I managed a social media promotion and will release a smaller title to market We are given a lot of autonomy over our tasks and how we structure our time. If there's a project you particularly want to do, there's often scope to pursue it
Support & Guidance
I got a lot of support/guidance from my line manager and my team were really patient and helpful. I had a network of other interns I was friends with which really helped too. We have lots of resources to access support through the company which are available 24/7 We didn't have a lot of interaction with HR as it was a virtual year
Culture
It was overall relaxed and positive. We were encouraged to get involved in charity initiatives and there have been lots of work towards diversity in the last year. My placement was in lockdown so there weren't any other events I could attend but in normal times there would be lots to do.
Your Impressions
I did find it enjoyable and the experience so valuable, I think the level of responsibility you get in this role is unlike many other placements. WarnerMedia is such a great company to work for and you can tell that everyone's really passionate about their work, and it would be even more fun for the next intern who'd get to experience life at the office!
Yes
To be yourself on the assessment center and be as curious and personable as possible. I wouldn't overthink it or rehearse your answers too much, once you've made it to the assessment day you've got all the qualifications you need so it's really important to show that you're enthusiastic and would fit into the team well. I would have liked to have known how important it is to put your ideas out there and go out of your comfort zone- make the most of it!
