Overview
As the TSEE intern I take on a variety of roles including upkeep of the employee training programs, working on projects as they come up, and administrative support. A huge part of the role is the ad-hoc tasks that arise over the year. No day is the same and I'm never bored.
Skills
I have learned loads of new skills, particularly around my IT ad project planning skills. I am now familiar with and confident in using software such as Workday Learning, Teams, Zoom and many more. As a result of my experience I also feel confident in my abilities to effectively plan and execute a project. Many of my existing skills have been improved too, such as my confidence and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility over the course of my placement, but never anything that I wasn't comfortable with or prepared for. As time went on and I grew in confidence and competence, I was given more to work on. I always felt that the work I was doing was valuable and working towards something important.
Support & Guidance
I always felt massively supported over my placement both from my immediate team and the company as a whole. The intern program is large, but not so big that you can easily fall through the cracks.
Culture
Everyone I have worked with has been supportive and friendly, and despite having completed the whole year virtually, I feel as though I have built an amazing network of colleagues and friends.
Your Impressions
This has been one of the most rewarding and important experiences of my life. I have worked with a global team, helping on really important projects to make the company the best it can be. I have met some truly amazing people personally and professionally, I have challenged myself to be the best and I cannot recommend it more. I have loved pretty much every day.
Yes
If your initial application gets through, then the company already probably already knows that you have the relevant skills required. I think employers want to see who you are; What makes you tick? Are you passionate? And most importantly, can they see you fitting in and getting on well in their team? Be yourself. You have to get a lot across to them in your video interview and you assessment day.
