Overview
The role of the intern is primarily to provide ad hoc TV ratings to marketing, production or sales. The rest of the time is spent on daily, weekly and monthly reports to either track or provide more in depth analysis of how shows are doing. Daily reports include gathering interesting industry news which gives you a good commercial awareness.
Skills
Yes, I have developed and learned so many more skills. Particularly in data analysis, problem solving, commercial awareness, working to deadlines and teamwork, to name a few.
Responsibilities
I was pleasantly surprised with how much responsibility I was given during my placement. I have truly felt part of the team and my managers have a lot of trust in me to send out analysis and reports without the need to check them as my work has improved over the year.
Support & Guidance
As I was in a small team I work very closely with my managers as we often divided work between us. While working from home made this more difficult I always received help over Microsoft teams and if I was struggling I could always call and screenshare to ask more questions about the work I was doing. We were always messaging each other throughout the day which made it much easier to ask questions.
Culture
I have spent my placement working from home so unfortunately I haven't been able to experience the office atmosphere however over Microsoft teams meetings everybody is very professional and friendly. Interns are very supported by all colleagues and they really make you feel like a valued employee.
Your Impressions
I have absolutely loved my placement. I feel very fortunate to have found the right placement for me and a job that I would like to pursue. I would love to come back to Warner Media in the future if an appropriate job opening presents itself, therefore I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to do a placement year.
