Overview
My remit is pretty broad, as I have to liaise with different department: Part of my job is handling the content proposals we receive daily, I save and create an archive with the materials we receive, then I review it to see if the titles proposed could be a match for our channels. The content we feel could be interesting is shared across EMEA with the programmers and once they send me their comments I collate them in a feedback for the distributors. Another part of my role is helping with all information sharing regarding the acquired titles, so I share information with marketing, dubbing and digital team as the main point of contact between the licensor and our department. Lastly, I help draft contracts, manual invoices and internal docs and presentations.
Skills
I have definitely learnt new skills, such as keeping track of a large amount of material and information, liaising with professionals in the field and efficiently use my time prioritizing more urgent tasks. I have strenghtened my ability to be highly organized and punctual with deadlines, enhanced my creative sensitivity and became more familiar with the animation environment as a whole.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given much responsibility from day one, which was challenging from beginning to end, and very stimulating. The work environment is dynamic, inclusive and welcoming. I was treated as an equal, expected to do my best but to also make mistake along the way as long as I learnt from them.
Support & Guidance
I received immense guidance from my line manager who supported me every step of the way explaining everything I didn't know - multiple times even - with patience and kindness, who set up goals for me and always pushed me to test my skills. My colleagues were respectful, nice and open to have a chat any time i needed one and our leaders have always been approachable and felt close. The communication is very intensive, clear and happens often so you are always reminded that you are part of something bigger.
Culture
The company culture is simply amazing, based on inclusivity, diversity and authenticity. Internal top-down communication is strong, benefits are nice and a culture of openness, kindness and collaboration is fostered. What I like the most about the company identity is the hunger for striving to be better, and the enphasis on how important it is that everyone does their own bit and that that bit is important. I never felt like I never had a voice and everyone around me was always supportive and ready to help.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it profoundly, even though not fully I'm afraid as I have worked remotely the entirety of My Placement due to the office being closed because of the pandemic. Every moment was either a challenge, new or fun. Most of the time all three things at once. Not really sure how to keep on filling the word count, because I can honestly say that the only thing I didn't enjoy about this placement was covid. Otherwise, my ratings are skyrocketing!
Yes
Even though it's "only" a placement, the role you will likely have will be closer to an actual entry level job, rather than an internship. You are given resposibility from day one, asked to do things you never did before and to put effort in everything you do. So if you are planning on applying I advice you to be ambitious, willing to test yourself and get involved. Become a sort of "yes man" and say yes to any opportunity given to you, the initiatives are endless and you should seize the day!
