Overview
HR & Recruitment for Early Careers. A fast-paced, busy working environment but with lots of opportunity to learn and develop. Working on recruitment for a variety of roles at any one time, arranging graduate assessment centres, events for Early Careers, assisting with general HR queries, data entry, payroll, updating the Early Careers trackers, helping the learning & development team, scheduling interviews and providing feedback (email & over phone).
Skills
Learnt to work the Oracle database, utilise Applicant Tracking Systems. Developed great business acumen, an understanding of the entirety of the recruitment process and HR processes. Furthered skills in communication (written & oral), MS Office Applications (especially Excel), organisation and administration skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Absolutely, the role is one you can take full responsibility for. Full support was provided from the Talent Partner and the wider recruitment & HR team, but this is a role that you definitely take responsibility for. It's a busy role, and knowing how to prioritise is important.
Support & Guidance
My manager was extremely supportive of me and my role. I recieved weekly one-on-one meetings which was great to get a feel for how I was doing, what was expected of me and recieve regular feedback. I also had a project to work on for university alongside the year, and my manager offered great advice and support on this as well.
Culture
Very friendly and supportive. A diverse workplace with good values & initiatives. Opportunities for flexible working. A good learning environment & a really good atmosphere for someone just kick-starting their career as well.
Your Impressions
I loved my placement experience. I had brilliant opportunities to learn and develop and gain an understanding of HR & Recruitment - a field I definitely want to stay in. I had excellent support from a great team and the opportunity to get to know many people across the business. This role has definitely helped to develop my skills and given me relevant experience in the field.
Yes
It's important to have an understanding of what the business does and the values they hold. The application process is good, challenging but not too long. My experience was fast-paced and there was always a lot to do and get involved in so it is great for those who enjoy working in a busy environment.
