Overview
On a day-to-day basis I am supporting the WB UK supply chain primarily through reporting and analysis, whether this be documenting our weekly shipment figures or identifying products where demand is beating current supply. I am responsible for raising Purchase Orders as well as managing WB stock across huge retail sites such as Amazon. Recent projects have included improving the cost efficiency of packaging for our larger boxsets, which helped save significant production costs.
Skills
My skill set has been broadened in areas such as communication, something you have to be doing constantly when working in a supply chain, as well as time management through the use of daily planners. I feel more confident when working with a team due to the team-oriented nature of supply chain. I have really seen an improvement in my analysis skills which has come through using large data sets on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
I was immediately given a good amount of responsibility at Warner Bros, which I feel allowed me to progress throughout my placement. I have taken on a range of individual projects, the outcomes of which have been taken on board by more senior colleagues, giving me a sense of importance within the business. I've been trusted with the re-design of critical business reports, as well making calls on factors like order quantities.
Support & Guidance
I was given constant support throughout my time at WB, even though I was unfortunately working from home, I never once felt isolated from my team. We have frequent team calls to discuss our workdays as well as one-to-one calls with my supervisors to check on wellbeing. Everyone at WB is highly approachable and always happy to help when you are having trouble with one of your tasks.
Culture
Warner Bros has an extremely social culture. Unfortunately I was working from home so didn't quite get to experience the full nature of this but there is regular virtual events across all aspects of the business to encourage integration between teams. The company has regular award days and exciting guest speakers. I'm also very jealous of those who will get to experience the WB offices after I'm gone.
Your Impressions
I'm thoroughly enjoying my placement here at Warner Bros. I'm always working on different tasks/projects so the role never feels repetitive and the media industry is a very exciting industry to work in. I would definitely want to go back to Warner Bros after my placement finishes.
Yes
A love for the film & entertainment is definitely a good starting point for applying. Warner tend to look for applicants who show a real interest in their industry. During the interview process, I found there is quite a big focus on your people skills rather than just academic achievements so try and show your personality as much as possible.
