Overview
there were welcome sessions a the beginning of each day, and trainee spotlight sessions, which involved a trainee talking for 15 minutes about their experience at DLA piper. There were breaks and lunch breaks in between sessions, as well as a variety of sessions ranging from SQE preparation to the introduction of Pro Bono in the firm.
Skills
Yes, due to its connections with Forage, there was a online internship 4 tasks assignment, which included due diligence, commercial awareness research, drafting and client emails, all of which i gained valuable skills from for the future. But more importantly, I gained life lessons as a lawyer y listening to the sessions hosted by the Partners of the firm, and their experiences.
Business Insight
very insightful and they gave us a lot of knowledge on the next steps which we can take, and how we can use this experience in preparation for the future. we had sessions on demystifying law which talked about the roles and business aspects around legal sectors, as well as sessions by the Partners going through all the positions and different services and sectors which the law firm holds.
Culture
Absolutely amazing. I cannot express how warm, friendly and kind the whole team was. They emphasised how important people were to the firm, and this was clearly demonstrated by their attention to each and every one of us and the experience which they gave us. The main reason this experience was so enjoyable was because of the atmosphere of all the colleagues and interns/trainees, as well as their relationship with one another.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it massively. It was the perfect length, with the sessions being the right amount of time to go through all important information and an acceptable amount of questions. the involvement of the team really made me feel welcome, as well as their relationships with each other which made it feel like a social event rather than an experience, which made it that much more enjoyable.
Yes
be yourself, as the firm really emphasises this. You are a person, and you are unique and make sure this is put across in your application.
