Overview
There was a unique daily schedule, filled with presentations from Partners, Associates and Trainees with the opportunity to ask questions. The answers are personal, detailed and highly informative. These sessions showed a range of different perspectives of the firms employees which provided a rounded insight into the firm's culture, what makes them unique and the type of work the firm engages in.
Skills
The scheme involved an opportunity to complete a Forage programme which developed my commercial awareness skills as well as the opportunity to practice due diligence work, drafting exercises and advising clients.
Business Insight
The information provided was invaluable - we were exposed to a variety of potential roles available from Corporate and Employment to opportunities such as international and client secondments and pro bono opportunities. We were also informed about the different employee networks involving support for employees from LGBTQ+ and black and ethnic minority backgrounds , women in law and parents and carers within the firm.
Culture
All of the speakers were very approachable, passionate and friendly which put my nerves at ease from the start of the programme. The graduate recruitment team were very encouraging to recognise our success and have confidence in our achievements. Even though it was only an insight scheme I still felt very values to the firm and its employees.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight programme - although it was virtual all the sessions were really engaging. None of the sessions or information felt repetitive or boring. I loved the 80's playlist at the start of every session as well.
Yes
I would take time to research the firm to understand why you want to apply to them. I would equally take time to research the firm's clients to understand their sectors and increase your commercial awareness.
