Overview
A clearly set out daily agenda compromising of various speakers ranging from new trainees up to Partners and Directors. There were plenty of breaks dispersed throughout the day and start and end times were very generous. There were also sessions ran by the recruitment team providing tips on future applications and insight into the current and future solicitor qualification paths.
Skills
Due to the restrictions of virtual work, my skills have not developed per say but my knowledge and confidence certainly has.
Business Insight
It was incredibly encouraging learning about the business. Although my perceptions were not negative before, with the knowledge I have gained I see DLA as being a really positive and caring employer. It is very clear they do not consider background, gender, race or any other factors other than solely fit into the company and dedication to learn.
Culture
Very very welcoming and supportive. Although there is a hierarchy, everyone is treated as being equally as valuable to the firm. From all the employees I spoke with, it is clear they have a genuine passion for their company and their colleagues.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight. The length of the programme and the days was perfect (especially over zoom). The insight provided was real and genuinely helpful. There was no necessity to be super active, you could very easily stay within your comfort zone. Overall, the programme was really insightful into the firm and the industry and was genuinely fun.
Yes
Show personality in your application. Do your research into the firm. If you get offered any opportunities, make the most of them and stay connected with the employees you meet. Add as many people on LinkedIn as possible and don’t feel afraid to message them asking for advice/specific questions/ or just to have a chat - they are really lovely people.
