Overview
Over the course of three days, we attended various talks on the legal industry and the firm specifically. These included trainee insights, an overview of the firm's employee networks, a session on DLA Piper's pro bono practice and more. We were also given a series of tasks to complete in our own time which simulated the work done by trainees at the firm.
Skills
I gained and developed very useful skills such as commercial research, contract drafting, risk evaluation, client communication, commercial advice and email drafting.
Business Insight
It was really interesting to learn about the various practices and sectors you could get involved in and I particularly liked the firm's focus on 'extracurrciular' pursuits such as pro bono work, mentorship and more.
Culture
The firm's representatives were incredibly welcoming and friendly, putting me immediately at ease. There was a real feeling of camaraderie and it felt like a close-knit community (despite the firm's large size).
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the blend of work we were exposed to and appreciated the friendliness and support shown by the team. I would recommend this programme to anyone considering or wanting to learn more about the legal industry. The training offered is unparalleled by any other insight scheme I've been on and I would be thrilled to go back.
Yes
Find a business sector that interests you and read up on it. The firm is looking for passion and a diversity of experiences and are genuinely interested in learning about you. You can have really interesting discussions with the team on your interests.
