Overview
Received a range of talks from bankers across various divisions, as well case study presentations and talks from the diversity council. Participated in a group assessment (unprepared), group project (2 days to prepare) and interviews on the last day, contributing to consideration for the Summer Internship. Had coffee chat rotations in breakout rooms, giving us the opportunity to meet bankers in smaller groups.
Skills
Developed networking skills through meeting junior and senior bankers from the firm. Encouraged to reach out to them separately to arrange calls. Developed teamwork skills through the group project and group assessment. Learnt about the life cycle of a deal and how each member of the team is involved.
Business Insight
Very insightful hearing from people in different teams. We were split up into IB, equities and equity research so received talks from our specific division. Heard from analysts, associates, VPs and MDs about the roles they play.
Culture
Fantastic culture. All the speakers we heard from were very passionate about their job and really motivated us to work there in the future. Junior bankers talked about the support they get from Jefferies compared to bulge bracket banks. Culture of innovation and seeking out the deals you want to do was reinforced.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed it. There were lots of different kinds of activities so didn't get bored during the week. Participation was strongly encouraged and the cohort was very engaged with the speakers. Particularly enjoyed being able to meet bankers in a more intimate setting in groups of 3-6.
Yes
When applying, think hard about your motivations behind applying to investment banking, and Jefferies in particular as they are mostly interested in this. Do background research and talk to people who work there to gain further insights.
