Overview
The experience was a two-day scheme. We had talks on topics such as: an overview of the firm, disputes, advocacy, pro-bono work, and case studies. We also had interactive sessions such as an ADR workshop and networking sessions with both trainees and various practice groups.
Skills
I have developed my skill to answer relevant questions and find information when needed. I have started to develop my negotation skills in the ADR workshop: thinking about the priorities of our client and how to balance those with that of another client. I have also developed my skill of expanding my network and meeting new people.
Business Insight
There were some really insightful talks from all levels of professionals at the firm. Coming away, I feel like I have a much better understanding of the work done at HSF, and the general culture at the firm. I enjoyed the structure of the scheme; there was a good overview of HSF at the start, and then throughout the two days we delved into more detail into different practice areas, talking to different people.
Culture
The atmosphere was friendly and very welcoming. I felt at ease to ask any questions that I had. I liked the way that we had the opportunity to talk to all levels of people at the firm.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual experience. I thought that Hopin was a great platform: I liked the different Stage and Sessions functions. I thought that Monthaha was great at leading the scheme and everything ran smoothly. All the speakers were very informative and open to answering questions in detail. A particular highlight was the ADR workshop, it was great doing something so interactive and felt like I was in the office rather than on teams!
Yes
Definitely apply to this first-year scheme. The applications advice session was particularly helpful, and I feel like I will be much better placed to apply for a Vacation Scheme now.
