Overview
Across the two days, we had case studies regarding corporate and disputes, talks about technology and application advice, networking with people at the firm and a mock mediation exercise. For this we split up into two teams and had to pitch our ideas as to what our client would want and then negotiate with the other side until we reached a settlement. We also had a virtual chocolate making class as part of a social at the end of day 1.
Skills
I've received lots of help with future applications and how to best showcase my skillset during the interview. We received practical advice on how to prepare for the case study interview. Through the ADR workshop, I developed my public speaking abilities, as well as the ability to think laterally and on my feet as we had to come up with counter offers on the spot. The ADR workshop also helped me improve my communication and team working skills as we had to work in groups of 8.
Business Insight
I found it very interesting and helpful to understand all about the business and potential roles available. In particular, the trainee networking and practice area career fairs helped me with this as I could ask any questions I had. It was good to speak to people at all levels of the firm so I could see how my career would progress throughout the years at the firm. All HSF reps were very helpful to me.
Culture
The culture was very nice. I thought it felt like a very inclusive firm

Make sure to remember that both disputes and corporate are big groups within the firm!
