Overview
The day was 9 - 5:30 and involved several presentations from different lines of business, at least one case study activity per day (discussion and/or short presentation) and a number of networking sessions with employees from analysts to managing directors.
Skills
Developed skills, such as, business acumen, communication, teamwork, networking and presentation as well as CV and recruitment process support.
Business Insight
Very detailed insights into each line of business and plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Also provided information about many of the potential internships and how to approach the application process.
Culture
J.P. Morgan has a very strong culture that all employees seem to buy into. Everyone vouches for their colleague’s willingness to support and share experiences with junior employees and interns. Equally, they are one of the best firms in the world for a reason and their is a clear drive for excellence amongst all staff.
Your Impressions
Naturally, I wish that the experience had been in person, but given the circumstances, the programme was well structured and we were still able to learn a lot. It is often difficult to listen to hours of presentations as companies attempt to sell themselves but there were plenty of breaks and ample opportunities to work in groups as well as network with anyone we met.
Yes
Come prepared with lots of questions to show your interest in the company. They are looking for very motivated students with a lot of initiative. Keep up with commercial awareness and try not to worry about how others around you are performing. Just be yourself and if you fit the firm then it will be an eye opening experience.
