Overview
On a daily basis, I would generally just help with whatever my seniors needed help with. This included cross checking data sheets and ensuring everything was correct at the start of my placement but nearer to the end, I was trusted more to carry out my own auditing analysis. There were a few bigger projects we worked on throughout my time there. I got to interact with the team quite a bit but did not really get to interact with people outside the team on a daily basis.
Skills
There was an internal training course that I had to undertake as part of my internship. This was very useful as it taught me auditing skills that I would not have known otherwise, preparing me well for a job in the economic field after university. These skills are very specific to the economic industry. Personally, it taught me to perservere and to be resilient as these skills seemed hard to master at first but I slowly got the hang of them.
Responsibilities
I was given quite a lot of responsibility during my internship, particularly towards the end of my placement. At first, the tasks felt quite meaningless but as I gained some more trust in the company, I was given more meaningful tasks that helped my seniors. At first, I did not have much of a say in what I did but as the internship progressed, I gained more autonomy. I also got great exposure to the business world through such tasks.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support during my time at the internship, not only by just my manager but also by the whole auditing team. They were all extremely supportive throughout my time there. Each of them were able to teach me new skills as well as personal development skills. It was always easy to ask for help during my internship as they would always provide me with great guidance when I came across any problems in my work.
Culture
Generally, the atmosphere of the company was welcoming and refreshing so I enjoyed working there. There were quite a few social events and activities which helped me to get to know other members of the company. For example, me and the members of the company took part in a charity drive and this not only helped me bond with them, but to also raise money for a good cause and to learn more about the other members of the company.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement a lot. The work was quite fun to me and it never seemed to get boring as there were always new problems to solve. The team were also extremely nice which made it a very nice place to work at. Seeing the charity initiatives set out by the company also helped me to understand company culture and I learnt that it was a very nice place to work at due to the caring people there. I would definitely go back to work there again.
Yes
For my application, I had to do psychometric testing which came in the form as a series of games on an app. It is important not to stress too much about this as you can always make up for it in the interview. For the interview, it is important to prepare your answers to common questions beforehand and make links to the key values of the company within your answers so that they can see how you embody the company values.
