Overview
We took part in several sessions during the 3 days. These included application skills sessions, insights into different departments across the firm (e.g. Pro Bono practice), spotlights sessions with current trainees, and Q&A sessions with graduate recruitment and various solicitors. There was also commercial task we could do in our own time (this involved conducting due diligence, drafting a contract etc.). There were also many breaks throughout the day.
Skills
My understanding both of the firm and commercial law increased drastically during the scheme. Especially as a non-law student, commercial law was demystified and made more accessible. I have now a better understanding of what law firms are looking for and what the day-to-day life of a lawyer might look like. Further the focus on mental health and equality really helped me to resolve some doubts I had about the legal profession.
Business Insight
The scheme was focused on commercial law, but I gained a lot of insight about the roles and different kinds of specialisations within this field.
Culture
The Graduate Recruitment team was successful in making everyone feel welcome! The speakers were very friendly and relatable. It would have been great to get to know the other participants, but that was impossible due to the scheme being virtual.
Your Impressions
All the speakers were engaging and friendly. I feel that I was able to take something away from each talk. It really was a great experience and helped me to make a more informed decision on my future career.

Just be yourself and convey your interest for commercial law! Do not be scared if you don't study law, since no prior knowledge is required.
