    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Virtual insight programme – talks by industry leaders (e.g. D&I, wellness, CSR); group projects across equity research, fixed income and multi asset (zoom breakout rooms); networking sessions across graduate analysts and PMs.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Research skills across equities (e.g. performing trading multiple analysis, 10-Ks/10-Qs) and fixed income (e.g. DCM/bond yields benchmarking against credit ratings); learning opporunities for non-finance students. Soft skills included teamwork and improved presenation skills, giving 3 presentations (1/day across programme).

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • A range of roles within investment (equities/fixed income/multi asset). I would have appreciated more practical learning opportunities surrounding roles outside of the investment division (e.g. sales and marketing opportunities) – hence the 4/5 rating – but nevertheless appreciated the networking sessions with leaders to gain insight into those areas.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Everyone is very intelligent, but also very open in their work – this helped to calm my nerves such that I felt comfortable asking many questions! The values of Fidelity International were clear from the beginning and endured throughout the programme, driven through sessions such as D&I, ESG and wellness. The general atmosphere was that of excitement, with polls in the morning for us to get to know each other more.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Thank you Fidelity International! I have thoughly enjoyed this Spring Week. One of my favourite aspects was the opportunity to interact with my fellow cohort on a regular basis, including for networking and group presentations – by the end of the insight we were closely-knit. Thank you to the ECR team for their efforts in organising the event, thoroughly appreciated!
