Overview
4 day virtual programme where current employees introduced us to the Rothschild archives, their commitment to the community, diversity in the workplace, different divisions, as well as interactions with analysts. We also carried out a group project which we presented on the final day to a panel of bankers and received feedback.
Skills
When carrying out the group project, I developed my team-work skills particularly in connection to investment and analytical work. I also learnt how to decipher a potential M&A deal and create a presentation on this.
Business Insight
It was exciting and interesting to learn about Rothschild and the potential roles. The analysts who spoke to us and presented their divisions were insightful, honest, and inspiring! We were also given briefing sessions on the next steps that followed our Spring Insight.
Culture
Interactions with HR were friendly, easy, and helpful with the Q&A sessions. Although the experience was virtual, the connections I created with my group and other interns were great and really friendly.
Your Impressions
The virtual experience was extremely enjoyable. They provided a sufficient number of breaks and always ensured that we had the opportunity to ask HR questions following the morning brief. The presentations were clear and easy to follow however, a longer session may be advisable in the future to ask more questions. There was always the opportunity to network and create contacts with analysts at the firm.
Yes
Be yourself - HR emphasised that they were looking for rounded people to join their teams. Be interesting - ensure you can maintain a conversation and have things to talk about other than IBD. Know the firm.
