    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • An introduction to EY was given in the morning followed by a sharing from an EY employee in the field of Technology. 2 external speakers were invited to share more about diversity and personal branding. After lunch, there was a demo session from the Technology team who shared with us what they do and create on a day-to-day basis. It ended off with a panel session from different roles of Technology where we could ask questions where interested.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Some skills I have learnt from the external speakers were about personal branding and how to create our own personal brand on the internet through different forms of social media. I also learnt about first impressions and how to ensure that we make a good first experience. Through the panel sessions, I have also learnt how to make a good impression at the interviews and ways to develop soft skills through university. I have also learnt how important networking is.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • We firstly had an EY employee share about her experience as a Women in the Tech field in EY and her journey in EY. She gave a brief introduction of what she does on the day-to-day basis and shared what she enjoyed in EY. As for potential roles available, we had a panel session of 5 employees from the different fields of tech to share what they do specifically. The panel session was extremely insightful as I got to ask the panels questions regarding their specific role and what their role looks for in a potential candidate

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Throughout the event, I got to know about the EY culture through the introduction that they gave. I found out that there were lots of internal events going on and there are societies in which employees can join. There is a huge initiative for diversity as the manager of the diversity team came and shared about what she does and EY's initiative towards diversity. Many of the employees shared how they liked EY because of the people there and how welcoming they were.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Even though it was just an insight which lasted one day, I really enjoyed myself. This was because prior to the event, the talent acquisition team reached out to us to send us some welcome gifts as well as sent us invite links to events that were hosted by EY. I felt really included during the event and the panelists gave really good insights and reassured us about the fast track programme. The panelists and hosts were also very welcoming and assured us that were can still reach out to them if ever we have any questions.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY
  • Before the application form and tests, do read through thoroughly about what EY does and make sure you understand what they do. As for the tests, there are practice tests available online so make sure to go through them before the tests. Do some research on what EY is doing currently. For example, in terms of technology, there are looking into blockchain etc. Talk to people who have applied and gone through the process so you know what is coming!
