    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Discover EY Black Heritage in Business was a two day programme where we had various sessions and listened to keynote speakers. The sessions discussed different service lines at EY whilst the keynote speakers delivered talks on topics such as critical thinking, building your brand and race within the workplace. There was also a talk on future career prospects following on from the scheme, and it ended with a social event where we took part in a group escape room type challenge!

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I learnt and developed many new and existing skills over the course of my time on the two day Discover EY Black Heritage in Business program. One of the skills that I learnt was how to build a positive and effective personal brand. First impressions are made almost instantly so this task was very helpful to ensure that we give good first impressions. The talk was delivered by Bianca Miller Cole and was very helpful!

  • During the two day Discover EY Black Heritage in Business program, there was plenty of opportunity to understand all about the business and potential roles available. We were not only given talks on the different service lines at EY such as tax, assurance and technology, but we were also delivered talks on EY as a whole and the different diversity networks within the firm. This was great as it gave an in depth insight into EY.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY
  • If you are a student looking to apply to EY, especially to the Discover EY Black Heritage in Business Program, I would advise you to be yourself! The recruiters are looking for people that they believe will fit into the firm culture at EY so it is important to show they what you are truly like. Another tip that I would give is to know about the firm and what they do. You will be asked this at interview.
