Overview
Migrating customer workloads into Azure and ensuring that customers are well educated to use and apply Azure services to their cloud environment by delivering workshops and tutorials. Providing thought leadership across the community and providing the highest level of a connected customer experience.
Skills
Both learned new skills and developed existing skills. New skills include the ability to use and apply Microsoft technologies such as Azure DevOps and understanding how cloud architectures are built on Azure. Developed skills such as communication and leadership.
Responsibilities
Responsibility can vary from taking meeting notes to being allocated to projects which involve using Azure services to help customers in their day to day work. You have the freedom to decide where and what you would like to learn. There is plenty of time allocated to learning.
Support & Guidance
Support from HR was not good. There were many times when I emailed/messaged one of the HR team and didn't receive a response. It was challenging for them since it was virtual but they didn't communicate enough with the interns during the cohort. However, they arranged a great workshop on personality profiles. My manager provided a lot of support and guidance throughout the internship and made the whole experience much better.
Culture
People are willing to help and most people are easily approachable. The inclusion and diversity culture is emphasised and put into practice throughout the year. Many exciting events take place throughout the year; inclusion and growth is always promoted.
Your Impressions
Very different with it being virtual and didn't get the full experience because of Covid. However, I've gained a lot of skills and learned about a lot of new technologies and their applications whilst being here. There is a lot of time dedicated to learning and development which I really enjoyed as Azure is huge.
Yes
Find and area on Azure that interests you and be prepared to do a lot of self-learning to upskill yourself in that area. Ask to join teams and projects for shadowing and get involved in any customer work when it's presented to you.
