Overview
The insight consisted of talks given by bankers at the firm to provide insight about the different teams and the work they do, as well as speed networking with a range of Rothschild & Co bankers and a group project with the other interns.
Skills
I have developed my networking skills through meeting so many bankers throughout the programme, as well as my fellow Spring interns. I also learnt new skills such as technical skills required when valuing a company, which I had the chance to put into practice in the group project.
Business Insight
I found learning all about the business and the potential roles available extremely insightful and it opened up my mind to different teams that I had not previously ever considered. The programme also gave insight into the rich history of the firm which incredibly interesting to learn about through a session covering the Rothschild Archives.
Culture
The company culture was extremely open and inviting. Every banker I had the chance to meet or interact with was extremely willing to answer any questions I had and they all spoke fondly of the atmosphere. It became apparent that the firm is one of the more social banks to work at, with the members of different teams socialising outside the work place as well.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight programme. Even though it was virtual, there was plenty of opportunity to network with bankers from the firm and I came away having learnt a lot about the business and the different roles. The sessions were engaging and interactive, which also contributed to the enjoyment.
Yes
I would advise really understanding the core of the business, what the firm values and the different roles available within the firm. At a place where the culture is so central to what they do, it is important you try and work out whether it is the sort of environment you would like to work in.
