Overview
The week was mostly spent either in sessions with bankers who were explaining what their department do or working in teams on a group project. We also had sessions on the firm’s history and on case studies.
Skills
I learnt a lot about valuations whilst working on the group project. Through this project I also developed my ability to present, and my analytical skills considering that we had to cut a lot from the presentation to fit it within the time.
Business Insight
Through the insight week I learnt a lot about the different departments of the firm which really displayed all the available opportunities. It definitely helped me to understand these roles and whether they were suited to my skillset
Culture
The culture at Rothschild & Co was seen throughout with each speaker discussing what it was that drew them to the company and what has made them stay. Almost everyone I networked with spoke highly of Rothschild’s culture! Generally, everyone was really friendly and easy to get on with.
Your Impressions
It was a week of hard work but I really enjoyed meeting so many people and discussing with them their experience of finance. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it and made friends despite it being a virtual week!
Yes
Learning about the culture and the history of the company is definitely important as the history particularly is a defining feature of Rothschild & Co’s approach. Also, just being friendly and approachable will help as its clearly something they value in their employees.
