    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • This was a female insight week, all virtual, lasting a week. We met some graduates who were undertaking the change and business solutions insight week and they discussed more about their roles and how the scheme works. We took part in a skills session too just helping us all with commercial awareness etc. We got to learn more about the company and meet other people on the insight week via zoom call which was interesting.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely developed my professional and personal skills, meeting other graduates enabled me to understand more about the transition from university to working life and how to conduct ourselves as well as how to make the most out of it. I have also developed my networking skills, meeting leaders in the company and graduates has helped as I am able to contact them on LinkedIn if I ever need any further help or tips.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was really useful, I didn't truly understand the graduate scheme but this has made me want to apply to it in the future as the role is so varied and you can explore different parts of the business. It was really easy to understand the business and more about the female leaders and their experiences within the company, which has helped improve the confidence about a woman entering the banking industry as it is so male dominated

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • This was difficult to see as it was virtually held, however the graduates that we have spoken to were very positive about the company, they were able to do things they were genuinely interested in and could receive the help they needed if they were ever struggling showing that this workplace is very friendly and welcoming. The culture seems very motivating and that everybody there has a genuine interest in banking and technology. The atmosphere was good.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight week, especially due to it being during the pandemic when not many job opportunities were available, this really boosted my confidence for applying to placements in the following year. I also enjoyed the insight week because it was a chance to learn more about an industry that I was a bit scared about joining due to being male dominated, however this female insight week helped me get over that and want to join the company

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group
  • Take the time to read through your application and tailor it well to what you know about the company but also what you think you'll get out of it. The interview process requires a lot of time but it is worth it. Make sure you are confident in what you are saying and really show why you are interested in the company and the role. If I were to reapply I would apply sooner as its best to get in early.
