Overview
Day to day varied, for the three days received information sessions about the different asset classes and were given opportunities to work with new people everyday in order to build up a presentation under time constraints, but also present. The programme was very insightful in developing my awareness into asset management, but also Fidelity's involvement in regards to ESG, mental health but also career paths.
Skills
I think that I strengthened my presenting skills, as there was constant need to demonstrate that ability throughout the programme. Taking different roles and research areas each time, made a more rounded individual but also more adaptable and I think it allowed me to really challenge my own knowledge within the space. Feedback provided after this allowed me to recognise areas for improvement.
Business Insight
The programme really gave high level insight into the business and potential roles, this was mainly facilitated from having graduates all the way up to MD's speaking to us about there own career journeys, tips but also why Fidelity is the place to work at. We really had the opportunity to question an array of people so learning about the business really was great.
Culture
Although the programme was virtual, Fidelity and its culture shone throughout. Every panel member but also the leading recruitment team were very welcoming, but also reassured us that it is a learning opportunity and that any question we have, we should ask. So the openness throughout the programme really made it an enjoyable, but more so interactive experience. So it was clear to see both individual excellence but also collaborative work is present.
Your Impressions
It was a every enjoyable experience, which was largely due to how interactive the sessions were. There were appropriate break times, that enabled us to recharge and stay fully engaged and there was such diversity of speakers that it was a constant learning and developing experience which made it great.
Yes
Come in with an open mindset but also read to learn, also there are always chances to ask, so make sure you think about questions that you may be interested in asking..
