Overview
The main focus of my role is to assist in the phased implementation of OpenHousing, a new integrated housing management system. I work under the direction guidance and supervision of business transformation and TOP team. Some of my tasks include User Acceptance Testing (UAT), workflow/user manuals, project administration and development of documentation, providing administrative support, preparing meetings, using ICT to communicate with colleagues and to produce accurate, high quality documents including presentations, spreadsheets, reports, meeting notes and project documents, undertake research for a range of projects, partially related to technology and organisational culture and support delivery of training to the organisation.
Skills
Yes, i would say i have gained new skills and developed my existing skills such as: Use of excel and being able to analyse statistics Developed working in a team within a project Improved organisation and work management skills Working to deadlines to meet objectives Leadership and initiative skills have been improved by being given my own tasks Communication skills have developed through communicating with staff across the organisation
Responsibilities
Yes, I have been given a lot of my own tasks that I am responsible for that contribute towards the project.
Support & Guidance
I would say my line manager has given me great support throughout my placement so far. As well as the other members of staff who are involved in the project. The accessibility of support is good and they are always there to help with guidance for problems and the general attitude towards providing support is good.
Culture
The general atmosphere is pleasant and everyone wants to make an impact. I attended a work conference when I first joined the organisation to introduce you to the business and their objectives. One of St Leger Homes main values and behaviours is fairness which links into their diversity initiatives. The organisations aims are to help the local community and residents into affordable homing.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed my placement a lot. This placement has taught me a lot about this industry, the job roles that are included and how they contribute towards the objectives of the organisation. It has allowed me to gain knowledge into how projects are implemented in a business and what is required to make it a success. The skills and knowledge I gain throughout my placement will increase my opportunity to gain higher grades and to apply for graduate programmes.
Yes
I would say prepare for the interview process so that you can stand out against other applicants and that you meet the requirements and values of the organisation. I would also advise to come across enthusiastic and throughout your placement show how you are contributing and developing your skills to meet their needs.
