Overview
Multiple workshops and sessions regarding the employee based community and inclusive culture. Furthermore, time was dedicated towards two of your chosen lines of business with real exposure to how the department works on a daily basis. Senior members were present throughout in addition to an insightful graduate panel.
Skills
My confidence to communicate virtually has exponentially improved - I am much more engaging and energetic when speaking online.
Business Insight
The first day provided a fantastic overview of the bank as a whole, clearly detailing each department's role in the clockwork of a business. In terms of specific roles, Corporate Audit was one that seemed very exciting due to the wide breadth of knowledge gained. Technology was incredible - there seems to be a lot more risk management in this sector than originally thought. It's not all just coding 24/7 contrary to my belief!
Culture
A very inclusive and diverse culture. There was a clear sense of belonging from each employee which says a lot about the work the firm has put in to encourage acceptance for all. Senior members in addition to employees varied in gender, race, nationality etc. BOAML actually encourages an inclusive nature so that diversity is accepted by all. Hence, equal oppurtunites are provided and a fruitful community is made.
Your Impressions
Albeit virually, this truly was a remarkable experience. An understanding of the bank as a whole in addition to the two departments I investigated was the highlight for me. Furthermore, an interactive environment involving enjoyable activities meant for a great time overall.
Yes
Make sure you demonstrate a real passion for the division you're applying for. Develop key examples of standard competencies - leadership, teamwork, ambition, problem solving etc. Think about what seperates BOAML from other banks and use that in the application. Show enthusiasm, energy and be humble and honest at the same time. Be yourself - it shows them your honesty !
