Overview
My role as a Teams TS involves engaging with customers and showcasing the value in Teams. Primarily, this results with meeting customers in a certain industry and running a sales pitch with them. Alongside this, you are constantly liasing internally to get the right resources and information in front of the customer, as well as generating demand for new and exciting projects through organizing webinars.
Skills
Alongside developing soft skills such as time management, public speaking, and working in a team, Microsoft also gives you the capability to upskill in any of its technology. For me as a Teams TS, I have taken and passed the MS-700 (Managing Microsoft Teams) and Power Platform Fundamentals exams.
Responsibilities
Yes, you are treated as a full-time employee. Once you are comfortable and confident, you will be given projects to work on, as well as empowered to drive your own projects.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support and guidance. As part of the onboarding process, I was assigned a Teams TS mentor for the year to lean on and ask for guidance. At the start of the year, myself, my manager, and my mentor sat down and put together a development plan for the year. This has been consistently refined across the year, and I'm constantly supported by everyone I work with.
Culture
Microsoft certainly embodies it's mission to empower every person both internally and externally. There's a real sense of shared purpose, driving for success, accepting that you need failure to learn, and living the 'growth mindset'.
Your Impressions
Hugely enjoyed. Despite the Covid pandemic, my team, my manager, and the wider Microsoft community made me feel welcome. I'm given real responsibility, I'm empowered to spend time outside of my core role working on stretch projects that I'm passionate about, and most importantly, I have loved the work I have done.
Yes
Microsoft is incredibly fast-paced, with things constantly changing, but it is so rewarding to be given space to develop before then being given real work to do. I would advise you to join with big aspirations - everyone you meet will work with you to make those goals happen.
