Overview
Each day we had the opportunity to hear from people working at the firm. We learnt about Bank of America, about our chosen two lines of business and about how we can improve our networking skills and build a personal brand. We also had the opportunity to network with other participants and people at the bank. The program was virtual but there were activities throughout the day from 9-5 and the program was very interactive.
Skills
Throughout the week my soft skills improved dramatically. I learnt how to network , how to succeed in a virtual environment and how to build a personal brand. I also learnt a lot more about the Global Markets and Investment Banking divisions and what they do - hence my technical knowledge developed significantly during the program.
Business Insight
It was great to learn about Bank of America and the roles available within the firm. It was interesting to see the wide range of roles within the bank and to start figuring out which would suite me the best. It was also great to learn about all the amazing things BofA is doing such as its incredible work in facilitating investments into the ESG space.
Culture
The atmosphere within the bank was very friendly and collegial. Everyone that I interacted with was very warm and happy to give advice where needed. The bank also has a culture of hard work and ambition which was clear when talking to everyone who works there. It also has a culture of caring about the wellbeing of its employees and a good work-life balance was encouraged.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed the insight. I learnt a huge amount and had a lot of fun throughout the week. It was great to meet so many new people and be taught so much about the bank and the industry. Everything about the program was impeccably organised and so it ran very smoothly.
Yes
Firstly, before applying, it is important to read about Bank of America and identify some of the key reasons why you want to apply to this bank in particular. Before the interview it is a good idea to think about some examples of where you have shown some leadership qualities or shown initiative. Finally, make sure that you have a general idea about what is happening in the markets.
