    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Specifically an IBD spring intern but the 5 day generalist virtual spring week gave all spring interns and insight into all areas of the bank including Markets and Securities Services, Operations & Technology, TTS via different deep dive sessions with various professionals in the respective areas. Before having IBD specific sessions towards the end of the week. Day-day included panel sessions, Amplify trading simulations, an escape room, networking sessions and an assessment centre workshop.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Amplify Trading IPO skill sessions gave a greater insight into capital markets. Ability to develop commercial awareness via insight sessions in the different areas of BCMA and landmark deals the bank had completed.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Very comprehensive spring week especially given as it was mostly a generalist spring week allowing all spring interns to gain an insight into different areas of Citi including infrastructure roles, and different areas of BCMA including investment banking, capital markets, private banking and corporate banking. We were able to get a deep dive into each of these areas and how they fit into the bank's model

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very friendly, open and engaging- HR and all professionals involved with the spring week were very attentive and easy to interact with. Complementary souvenirs e.g water bottle/notebook/hoodie sent from Citi to all spring interns before the start of the spring week.

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed it - really well structured and executed. Despite having to accommodate for 100+ spring interns across all business divisions. Enjoyed the generalist structure which allowed you to find out more about Citi holistically and not be siloed into your specific business division

  • Really be able to answer the 'Why Citi' question for interviews and tailor this answer to make it personal. Also be aware of recent news coverage about Citi. Be personable in interviews and remember most importantly to get on with your interviewer
