    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Supporting the EMEA strategy team for Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line for the UK and various international markets. On a day to day basis this can involve monitoring and analysing the business environment, measuring and evaluating marketing and sales activity, conducting competitor analysis and assisting with the preparation of campaign briefing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • In terms of new skills learnt, I have become more proficient in my use of Microsoft Office platforms such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel and through working with international markets I have improved my cultural sensitivity. In addition to this I have developed some existing skills such as; data analytics, organisation and presentation skills.

  • Yes, I was given a fair amount of responsibility through my internship. I was presented with many weekly tasks that I had to complete in order for my colleagues to meet their deadlines.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Throughout my Internship I was able to reach my line manager, despite the virtual element of it. My manager would regularly check in with me to ensure I was happy with the current work I was performing and to see if I was able to manage any upcoming deadlines.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Generally, the company atmosphere is very welcoming. Everyone is super passionate about the brand and because of this everyone is very invested in their work. Issues that may be considered 'taboo topics' in other workplaces are generally open for conversation with a safe and friendly environment present.

  • Despite the remote element of my placement due to COVID-19, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with TWDC and would highly recommend them to any students looking to partake in a year in industry.
