Overview
My main job is to review consumer products for EMEA Star Wars Approvals and ensure submissions are kept within an approximate 5 day turnaround time. I also work on creative projects which involve developing product ideas to pitch and working with licensing managers to develop concepts for potential partners.
Skills
Working for Disney has helped me understand the process from idea to market. Reviewing for EMEA Star Wars Approvals has helped develop my understanding of licensing and making sure products are in-keeping with the guidelines. Creatively I have developed my photoshop skills and learnt how to render in photoshop from a simple sketch. Designing toys has helped me develop a key understanding of the factors involved in the process, such as age, learning factor, safety...
Responsibilities
Yes - as I gained a better understanding of how to review consumer products from licensees, I was giving the responsibility to manage the submissions inbox and EMEA Star Wars approvals email. I've also worked with my team on developing concepts that were pitched to potential global partners.
Support & Guidance
My line manager and I would have a weekly call to run through any questions and submissions that require his attention. During the week if I needed support I could drop someone a teams message and they can provide guidance.
Culture
Very nice and welcoming atmosphere when I started. Fellow cast members were always happy to jump on a call in case things needed explaining. Although majority of the placement was spent at home, I was still able to chat with the wider team every week.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship to a great extent. I worked in a line of business I never thought I would be working in but having experienced a placement at Disney this is certainly a business area I want to work in in the future.
Yes
Include facts about you that make you different from the rest. Avoid delving into detail about how much you like Disney as a lot of people like Disney.
