Overview
Regular analytic reporting of performance and audience of the National Geographic channels across Europe and Africa as well as key factual competitors. From this analysis, I generate objective insights to deliver to key stakeholders to aid strategic marketing and programming decisions.
Skills
Learned how to use TechEdge software and Microsoft Power BI, as well as advancing my Excel and PowerPoint Skills. Presentation skills are much more developed due to opportunities to present projects on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. I was responsible for producing daily, weekly and monthly reports of the performance and audience of National Geographic channels and key competitors.
Support & Guidance
I received regular training sessions both internally and externally provided. I was also part of the Disney Intern Programme which provided monthly career development learning modules. My supervisor was also very supportive in my learning and development.
Culture
Quite hard to gauge due to working remotely, but the company provided frequent events including talks, Q&As, screening etc. which helped create a good atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I loved my placement, I learned so many new things and have developed much personal confidence in my abilities. I am looking to pursue a future career in this area once I have completed my degree.
Yes
Make sure you have a genuine interest in the role you are applying to as there will be a lot of hard work involved on a day-to-day basis. Also, don't worry too much if you don't have a lot of relevant industry experience, you're on the placement to learn so you don't need to know everything already.
