Overview
CMS work to maintain, update and create Disney webpages and content across EMEA. Communication with several key teams to monitor progress of projects and daily tasks. My responsibilities have increased through my placement and the projects I have worked on have become increasingly important.
Skills
I have significantly developed my CMS skills, as well as my teamwork, organisation, professional communication, writing skills and ability to learn new software or working systems. Lots of on the job training to learn bespoke systems, as well as several training courses on teamwork, personal branding, equality and diversity etc. I have generally learnt a lot about working in media in an international company.
Responsibilities
To start, as I was learning, my responsibility wasn't very high - which was fine by me. However, as I learnt more and understood how everything operated, the responsibility I was given was much higher. Towards the end of my placement, I have now led and completed several projects and all tasks I'm given are meaningful and significant to the business.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support and guidance is available. Everyone within my team, including my line manager, was more than happy to help me with any queries or problems I encountered. I never felt unsupported and always received the help I needed in a timely fashion.
Culture
Unfortunately my entire placement has been working from home, so I can't really say. All I can say is that everyone has tried to make the best of the remote working situation. There is a great charity initiative for interns only that was a pleasure to be involved in and allowed me to work with interns from across the business.
Your Impressions
I have loved my placement. I thoroughly enjoy the work, the collaboration with all of my colleagues and I have a significant amount of responsibility. I feel my enjoyment would have been even higher if it wasn't entirely remote working, though circumstances did not allow this. If there were opportunities for me within the organisation in future, I would love to return.
Yes
Take time to tailor your cover letter to the role and the organisation, focusing on the relevant skills you possess. I never attended my assessment centre due to COVID and just had a video interview instead, but make sure to research and prepare for common interview questions. Go into the role with enthusiasm and willingness to learn!
