    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As the Digital Training Intern I'm supporting the Digital Training Developer within the Retail Training Team. I'm working with various software to create e-learning content, training videos and with photoshop for the design. I'm running weekly reports of the Product Knowledge Checks which are assessing the delegate's product knowledge and can be used to create further training material. In the Learning Management System I'm setting up Virtual Classroom Sessions in which the trainers of the team deliver the product training. The daily tasks are diverse and I get very interesting insights and experience which helps me for my further career.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I got to know new software tools and learned how to use them effectively such as Adobe Premier Elements for video editing and RISE for creating digital learning content. I developed my presentation skills and got great support from the whole team right from the start. I'm enjoying to apply the knowledge I gained at university into daily work. I can be very creative and get involved in various fields. If I have several tasks at the same time, I set priorities to meet the deadlines.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have got some exciting projects where I'm investigating things and gathering information to then come back on that to my manager and team colleagues to present and discuss. The team is appreciating my work which they are also communicating to me. I can bring in own ideas and thoughts and I like the tasks I'm doing very much. Through the tasks and responsibility I get, I also learn more about my own abilities.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My manager and the whole team welcomed me into the team and supported me right from the beginning. I'm supporting the Digital Training Developer who is my Mentor during the placement. My mentor involves me in all processes and everyone has been very understanding and patient with explanations. I'm very grateful for the support and guidance I received and never felt left alone with upcoming challenges also in terms of starting the placement whilst Working from Home.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Due to Covid social activities couldn't take place as if they would have usually. There would have been a Christmas party and other events. There was a great community between the interns though and we were able to participate in digital trainings together. This also allowed us to get to know each other better and exchange ideas. While working from home, it has been a challenge to get to know colleagues outside the own team. There was a coffee roulette on skype which gave the opportunity to participate and then be randomly connected with colleagues throughout the company to have a little chat.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Actually my placement at BSH was the best I have ever done. I'm very happy with my tasks and grateful for having the opportunity to work in such a great and supportive team. My expectations were far exceeded and I was able to acquire quite a few new skills that I'm sure will help me also in future job roles. Working for a global company has been a great experience and it was also interesting to communicate with colleagues in different countries.

  • 7. Would you recommend BSH to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to BSH
  • I have always been impressed by the brands that BSH carries. In my hometown e.g. we have Bosch and Siemens and my enthusiasm for the products motivated me to apply at BSH. I included a cover letter and CV with my application and was then invited to a virtual first chat and a following interview. I was given a small task to prepare, which I then presented in the interview. I remember I was quite nervous beforehand, but in the interview itself I became more relaxed and was enjoying the conversation.
