Overview
My role was to assist in the completion of audits on a day to day basis. This included taking part in various areas of the audit stages such as planning and execution and completing all of the relevant areas of the audit file for the particular client.
Skills
I have developed a considerable amount of skills while at RSM, improving my overall knowledge around the financial statements of a company. I have also developed my key working skills with increasing my ability to work as part of a team as each audit is taken by a team from the office. They have also drastically helped my communication skills with colleagues but also while talking to clients that i had always previously struggled with.
Responsibilities
I have been given a lot of responsibility while completing my placement from early on and this has increased throughout the placement from starting with taking control of one area of the audit file and then taking client calls/stocktakes by myself and then on to starting to supervisor others while taking the audits.
Support & Guidance
I have received a lot of guidance and support throughout my placement. We were put in contact with the cohort of new starters when I first joined and on my first day i was introduced to my buddy who was from the cohort before me. I was also introduced to my line manager who has been extremely supporting and helpful through out my placement and she has always been there to help and support me whenever i had any questions or problems.
Culture
The company culture and atmosphere was very supporting and caring throughout the placement and they have always tried to help throughout covid making sure that at any point you were able to attend in person before asking anyone to do it.
Your Impressions
I have very much enjoyed my placement even though it has been entirely remote so far but RSM have still been able to bring across a brilliant company culture without actually being in the ffice or on client sites.
Yes
My advice to others would be to just be confident and yourself while applying to RSM as from my experience the type of qualification you have isnt as relevant as the type of person you are as there is considerable training to develop your personal skills while in the company.
