Overview
Supporting the Quality team on a variety of business improvement and Business change Projects. This included software replacements, new business proposals, audit support and process management. There was significant interaction with the US side of the business and space.
Skills
Communication skills with international colleagues. Presentation Skills - both for wider team and for senior leadership. Data Analysis Skills - identifying trends and providing potential solutions Feedback Skills - Training Session provided
Responsibilities
I was frequently given responsibility during my placement, which ranged from independent interactions and presentations with the Customer and international colleagues to proposing ideas to senior leadership.
Support & Guidance
I received a huge amount of support. My team members were always extremely eager to help wherever they could. I also had several mini-mentoring session with members of the senior leadership team to discuss my future prospects. On beginning of my placement I was assigned a mentor who I could approach with any questions.
Culture
The company placed an emphasis on supporting those in early careers roles. Interns/ Apprentices/ Graduates were highly valued as prospective future employees.
Your Impressions
My Placement was the most beneficial learning experience I have had so far in my early career. I can honestly say there wasn't one single day where I didn't want to work, I enjoyed every minute of it.
Yes
Get involved in as many societies as you can whilst at university whether this is sports teams, educational societies or volunteering. In your interview be confident to walk through your thinking with the interviewer when answering questions you are unsure about. Don't be afraid to respond with "I am not completely sure, but if I explain my thinking ..."
