Overview
I assist the audit team and carry out the main testing of account balances under supervision of senior colleagues. I am allocated work and expected to manage and complete tasks to set deadlines. I interact with my team daily to collaborate or ask for guidance and will speak to clients as necessary (usually minimal contact). I can be booked on more than one job at once and will work on each job per our schedule.
Skills
Time management - I always have to work to deadlines so this has enabled me to be more organised and work efficiently to meet deadlines. IT - Regular use of excel has resulted in a higher level of IT literacy. Problem solving - working in audit requires a sceptical mind and requires me to think of solutions rather than simply presenting the problem Team work - audits require a team effort so I am constantly communicating and helping.
Responsibilities
High level of responsibility which came to me as a shock since I am at a junior level. I am allocated whole sections of audit files and given the responsibility to complete them to deadlines and to a high standard.
Support & Guidance
I am part of a small team so there is constant communication between everyone and so I can ask for help when I need it without hesitation. I have also participated in numerous internal training courses which have aided me in my work.
Culture
Everyone is friendly and easy to get on with. Hard to judge as I have not met the team in person or been in the office due to COVID.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement and feel like I hit the ground running when I started. Everyone has been very welcoming and easy to get along with. The work is challenging and not repetitive which makes it far more enjoyable. I would love to come back as a graduate.
Yes
Keep an open mind & don't have any expectations as they will go above and beyond anything that you expect!
