Overview
A large part of the role included organising documents such as budgets and schedules as well as organising meetings and attending then for minutes. I was also involved in a large variety of other tasks including invoices, research and budget comparisons to help the rest of the team to manage the ongoing productions.
Skills
My skills in time management and general organisation have definitely improved, as well as my ability to work well in a team. More specifically I was able to gain experience of different software and platforms, including Excel. I was also able to gain an insight into a number of other departments, such as the Legal and Marketing teams.
Responsibilities
There was a lot of opportunities for gaining a sense of responsibility during my internship, which allow you to feel like a valuable part of the team. To give an example, I was asked to circulate a report which I would populate with updates each week.
Support & Guidance
There was lots of support and guidance given to us, and we were always encouraged to ask questions. Despite working from home due to Covid 19, my team members were always very accessible whenever I needed assistance or had a quick question. We were also offered training sessions through the Disney Intern Programme, as well as more informal sessions which I had with team members over Zoom, which were all very useful.
Culture
The company culture is one which is very friendly and inclusive and always willing to help when needed. Outside of my team, people are were often willing to talk to me over Zoom and chat through any questions I had about the role they played in the company.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement at Disney and feel I have developed a wide range of skills which will help me in my job search after university.
Yes
I would advise that applicants do lots of research into the area of the business they are applying to. If they get through to an interview, I would recommend making sure that they come with a number of questions to ask as this is a really great way to get to know more about the role as well as showing enthusiasm.
