    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The role involves assisting the creative team with the development and production of animated series from initial conception to final broadcast. Day to day tasks include: reviewing development materials and submissions in internal discussions, producing promotional content and various presentations for the team, researching animation companies, conferences and talent and assisting in the management of daily traffic of review material.

  • I have developed many skills over the course of my internship, particularly my analytical skills and providing constructive criticism. I am now well versed in the production process for animated series. I have also developed key skills such as: time management, organisation, interpersonal and creative thinking.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • The animation intern provides work that is key for the functionality and success of the team. A lot of responsibility is given to the intern and they are very much a part of the team. The team relies on the intern as much as they would any one else which teaches the intern to be independent and proactive.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received regular support throughout my internship. It being virtual meant it was more difficult than previous years however regular zoom calls and meetings meant that I was always able to contact the team for support and any help I may have needed.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Unfortunately as the internship was entirely virtual it was hard to get a sense of what the company culture and general atmosphere was like however from Zoom calls I could gather that it is a very open, fun and friendly place to work. Everyone is very positive, creative and enjoys what they do.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I found that I looked forward to every work day and even if it was busy at times it was always fun. I learnt so much about the animation industry and it has inspired me to pursue a career in this sector. The team were all a delight to work with and made every day enjoyable. I could be creative everyday and it has really helped me to develop key skills that I know will be highly valuable when I look for future jobs.

  • Ensure that you show your love for entertainment and media and make sure your application reflects the role you are applying for. Be specific: give examples of your favourite film e.g or examples of how you have used your relevant skills previously. If you have a portfolio of your work then don't be afraid to put the link to it on your CV so the employer can get a sense of the passion you have for the role you are applying for.
