Skills
I have extended my communication skills by having to email people and organize Teams meetings., Also, I have enhanced my laboratory skills as I have been given a lot of independency to run my own experiments and design them.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was able to design my own experiments in the laboratory and then analyze them. Also, I had full decision on my day-to-day jobs and would have to prioritize the tasks myself. I got to present my findings to a wider team, which put a responsibility to know that data is correct and I could answer any questions.
Support & Guidance
The team was vey supportive and helped me to feel comfortable in the laboratory. During the first 3 months I mainly done shadowing, which allowed me to feel more comfortable with the techniques I would use in the lab later on in the year.
Culture
Company has its strong values and everyone follows them. All the members of staff are very approachable and are always willing to help and answer any questions. Atmosphere in the office was great and industrial placement students did not feel excluded from the team due to being less knowledgeable.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed my placement and learnt a lot during this year. It expanded my lab skills and communication capabilities. I had a chance to participate in a variety of different projects and activities, which allowed me to understand better what I would like to be doing in the future.

Although the beginning of the job is challenging, everyone is really supportive and welcoming, and it will get easier the more you practice. Make sure to read about the company before applying and see that their values match what you believe in.
