Skills
I have learnt countless new skills, whether it be hard skills such as greatly developing my use of excel, or soft skill such as professionalism, communication and teamwork. My attention to detail and problem solving skills have also developed and I have learned the importance of networking.
Responsibilities
From day 1 of my internship, I felt challenged and given a real sense of responsibility, as the internship progressed I understood more of how my work impacts the business, and felt like an important member of the team. One of the highlights of an internship at L'Oreal for me was how valued the intern cohort is made to feel, as we are providing real value to the team.
Support & Guidance
Everyone at L'Oreal is incredibly supportive, there is an amazing learning culture which means as an intern I never feel silly asking a question. Weekly 121s with line managers mean I am always in regular contact to voice any concerns or queries to be supported with. The general wider team are always happy to help with anything I'm unsure with.
Culture
The company culture shows how much L'Oreal values its employees, always encouraging us to take care of our wellbeing both mentally and physically, an example is giving us extra time off work on Fridays amidst the COVID pandemic. Despite the lack of social activity due to covid 19, great effort was made to host virtual team building socials, and charity work to support local communities.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, the challenge of working in a finance role relating to my studies was great, and the level of responsibility given as an intern was very surprising in a positive manner. I have learnt invaluable skills that I will take forward for the rest of my career. I could not recommend it enough.
