Overview
My role involved testing different API's using a variation of analytical techniques. I'm also involved in projects and I'm a part of the weekly cross-labs communications team. I lead daily meetings and get involved in different continuous improvement ideas. I also support the creation of stability data tables, which contributes to the annual reports and PPRs.
Skills
I am trained in numerous analytical techniques such as IR, Sympatec Particle Size, Karl Fischer testing and many others. I have also been exposed to HPLC testing. I have extremely enhanced my presentation and communication skills. I've learnt to work in a professional and fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
Yes, one of the values here in GSK is trust and this has been applied throughout my placement. Depending on your training you are given the same responsibilities as a full time analyst in the lab.
Support & Guidance
My manager was very supportive, we had monthly 1:1 meetings to discuss how I'm finding my experience and suggesting all of the development opportunities GSK offers. Any questions or issues the team was really helpful and friendly, you are never left in the dark during your placement.
Culture
Company culture is exemplary and it really does show during your day to day work. You are exposed to the expectations and mindset of being in a professional environment, which changes your perspective of how things work and does make you grow as an individual. Quality, safety, innovation, transparency, performance, trust, patient focus are all values that are key to reach success and are reflective in the work we do as a team and company.
Your Impressions
I really did enjoy my placement, I had a great manager and a supportive team throughout. I could not have imagined it to be better. In terms of the social aspect it was a bit poor due to COVID, however it did not stop communications inside the work environment.
Yes
Be yourself and do not hesitate to ask questions.
